From Briefing.com

Sector also got a lift in anticipation of another strong earnings report out of software giant and sector king, Microsoft (MSFT 83 1/8 +2 1/8)... Company delivered... After the close, MSFT reported earnings of $0.35, three cents above expectations and at high end of whisper range... But where the street might find fault is in the company's relatively pedestrian top line growth of 14%... Typical cautionary comments regarding outlook for rest of year could also weigh on stock... In fact, stock down 1 1/8 in early after hours trading... But quite simply this is a great company with tremendous management, a strong product portfolio and a dominant share... Briefing.com not putting much stock in cautionary forward comments, as it fits company's m.o... Now if cloud of antitrust case can be lifted, stock will rally to 100+... As long as MSFT remains relatively healthy, tough to make a case for tech sector collapse.

Robert,

I am trying to point out that although this is a blip now, it will become normal within several quarters and go up from there. Frankly, they can sell more net investments and keep realizing these gains for a long while. I can see that you get it. Their investment earning power has become a serious factor, and the analysts know it. If it drops, I am buying more.
