SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 1999 via NewsEdge Corporation -

At the Oracle Applications User Group (OAUG) in San Diego, Plant-Wide
Research released new findings that Oracle Corporation's sales of
manufacturing software has surpassed SAP sales in the United States. With this announcement, Oracle becomes the leading ERP vendor in the
manufacturing arena.

The news was announced by Larry Ellison, CEO and founder of Oracle Corp, the world's second-largest software vendor, at a media and industry analyst briefing held during the conference.

"Oracle has continued to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities, which has helped the company pull ahead of SAP," said Janet Gould, senior analyst, director of west coast operations, Plant-Wide Research. "Despite SAP's reputation in this area, Oracle has clearly demonstrated the leadership it needs to overtake SAP and we expect Oracle's lead over SAP in manufacturing applications sales to continue to grow."

Plant-Wide estimates Oracle's 1998 U.S. manufacturing revenues to be $1.47 billion, while SAP's are estimated at $1.44 billion. About Plant-Wide Research
