The Power of E-Bill Partnerships Addressed at Industry Conferences
April 21, 1999

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MIAMI BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)

TriSense Software and its Customers to Discuss Strategic

Relationships in EBPP

When a bank outsources electronic billing, it may be sending its commercial customers into the open arms - or Internet portal - of the competition. A direct relationship between the bank and biller can strengthen ties and help both parties fully reap the rewards of Internet billing. These issues and others exploring the importance of strategic partnerships among banks and billers will be addressed by TriSense Software at BAI's Transaction Processing Conference today in Miami Beach and other upcoming financial industry conferences.

TriSense Software Ltd. is a Minneapolis-based financial systems software company that has developed PaySense(tm), a round-trip electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP) solution designed especially for billers, banks and financial services companies.

"With four models of Internet bill delivery currently on the market and more emerging, it's important to look at the benefits and risks of each," said David Lamm, president and chief executive officer of TriSense Software. "Models that seemingly remove the burden from a bank or biller may also remove control over the greatest benefits of Internet bill delivery and payment, such as branding, advertising and cross-selling." Using e-mail for bill delivery and payment, PaySense follows the personal consolidation model of EBPP, which gives billers and consumers control and management of data and personal records.

Lamm will talk about how banks and billers can work together to maximize the benefits of e-billing in a speech this afternoon, "Insourcing Bill Payment and Presentment," at BAI's Transaction Processing conference. He will be joined by Keith Harvey, Internet banking director of Five Points Bank, the first community bank in the nation to offer an Internet billing and payment service to commercial customers. Five Points is a $265 million-asset, full-service bank based in Grand Island, Neb.

"Internet bill delivery and payment offers an opportunity for a community-based business solution with a bank at the center," Lamm said.

Lamm will further discuss bank and biller relationships in a speech entitled "Bankers and Billers - Strategic Partners in Electronic Bill Presentment, " April 28, at the Southern Financial Exchange conference Money, Banking & Commerce in the 21st Century Biloxi, Miss.

Also on April 28, the biller's perspective of electronic bill presentment and payment will be addressed by Tom Kuder, executive vice president of marketing and sales for TriSense. Kuder and Jim Rosenberg, director of public relations for Wisconsin Fuel & Light, will present "The Strategic Value of Electronic Bill Presentment to Billers and Banks" at the annual meeting of the Minnesota Treasury Management Association in Minneapolis. Wisconsin Fuel & Light is a Wausau, Wisc.-based regional utility offering PaySense to its 48,000 customers through an agreement with Wausau Financial Systems, a remittance and item processing solution provider that currently serves over 700 customers worldwide.

"In addition to the cost savings of EBPP, we wanted to offer something to our customers that would distinguish our utility in a deregulated environment. But managing a 24-hour, interactive Web site wasn't practical for us," Rosenberg said. "By partnering with Wausau Financial Systems to offer PaySense, we maintain control over our bill delivery but avoid the disadvantages of complex integration and costly operation."

Wausau Financial Systems CEO Bob Weirauch will take part in a panel discussion, "Bringing Online Bill Presentment to Market," May 5, at the BankNet/InvestNet conference in Las Vegas sponsored by Financial Service Online magazine. Also in May, TriSense will demonstrate its e-mail-based PaySense solution at Faulkner & Gray's Future Bank conference in Minneapolis.

"Industry conferences give us the opportunity to let billers and banks know that they have choices for electronic bill delivery and payment," Lamm said. "Matching their EBPP needs with the right solution can only come from looking at all of the alternatives."

Ron S,AW,Zuma,TL,BB,BobG, et al:

I have been a long-time lurker and CKFR shareholder since 1996. I have read nearly every post (old thread and new) and have reaped the benefits of your insight. I finally joined SI so that I might be able to add some little value from time to time, and to ease the guilt of not having paid a membership fee.

I realize I'm new around here (from a card carrying standpoint), but if there is room for me in August in NYC, I'd love to be included.

Thanx to all,
Capt T.
