>>>>in the 90's tech was in and commods were out, i believe techs are maturing and the tables are turning. There is only so much oil in the world and so many gas guzzling leather upholstered 4wd's being driven off the showroom floors. <<<<

bobby,

Your post is always interesting to read. But you need to go back to school to get re-educated <g>. Technology is far from maturing. New horizon is unlimited. We are just in the beginning of this information technology revolution. How many people knew E*Trade three years ago? Today, a cab driver in NYC can chat with you about on-line trading.

Certain industrial groups may be matured, such as box makers. But even they can make a good profits, considering a huge market potential in the third world countries. Many of new technology are still in their early edge. They have a long way to go before they become matured.

I owned some oil-related stocks in 97 before they went down hill. We are in the agreement that oil stocks do look very tempting. SLB is one of them. But I am a tech investor, and believe tech stocks will continue their domination for who know how long, next 5, 10, 20...

Buying tech stocks is a fun, not just for money. I wouldn't know a lot of new technology if I were not buying those stocks. But I am not blindly buy and hold tech stocks. I am holding a few short tech positions which I longed two weeks ago.

>>>>i believe the nutz will get back up in the hi 60/low 70's rsi before topping, people are nutz about these things, u know.<<<<

Yes, it is possible that a few bounces may get some stocks back to high rsi level. But we can have another big drop in any time, given the market volatility. MSFT earning beats consensus by 3c, the high side of the whisper number, but if excluding the 350mil investment gain, the true eps is only 29c. Revenues only rose 15%. Not impressive to me. Let's see how the market reacts to these numbers tomorrow. I feel safe on the short side at least right now.

Jack

The tables are turning ?? Yea right, I'm going to go buy the dogs of the DOW and forget the Tech sector. I just love it when AA turns into a 1 bagger five years later. ROFL.

Re commodities and contrarianism: check the action in beans yesterday. The govt. says the crop is going to be huge and beans rally.

Lawdalmighty, don't tempt people to trade commodities <G> Talk about a quick separation of man and wallet . . .
