Very tough questions. I think the answer is that the market is evolving away from their core competency but slower than one thinks, therefore the numbers are good, so far. I think the numbers stay strong for many more years, read 3-5, as the evolution continues throughout the world. MSFT will have to reinvent themselves by then using msn and the web. If they are allowed, they will probably attempt a master stroke: a merger with csco, amzn, yhoo, something along those lines, in order to succesfully evolve. Meanwhile, they maintain and extend dominance in the software business.

Tough to know what it will look like in 10+ years, obviously. It's kind of like guessing what IBM would look like, standing in 1960 and looking out.
