THe age speech starts is so miraculous. CW had an almost uncanny ability to do puzzles, fairly hard ones, before he was two. He once heard someone say "How does he do that?" as they watched him and from then on, anytime he accomplished something, he'd turn to us, his big brown eyes wide with amazement and self-appreciation, and say, "How do I DO that!"

Unfortunately, in the teen years, "How did he DO that?" takes on new and not so nice connotations, and often becomes "WHY did he do that?"

Yes, the video camera is great. But when she starts to talk, it won't be running when she says miraculously funny, wonderful things. So you simply MUST get a notebook with a bright cover that will keep you from losing track of it and write down the things you want to remember so you can tell her later! One thinks one will remember, but one never does. I wish so much that i had done that. I thought everything my son said would be etched forever in my mind. Isn't having a toddler the most fun on earth?
