Future Shock? Anyone for some Huxley?

I think Durkheim was on the right track. The modern world has reached a point of acceleration that has many people's heads swimming. Change is so rapid, Im 25 and cant get over the amazement sometimes of how much the world has changed just since 1974. I remember when pocket calculators were wonders of technology and the commodore64 was bleeding edge. Amazing isnt it? Anomie, Durkheim would be having a field day in the 20th century.
