Crucial Technology Announces Availability of
133MHz SDRAM Memory Upgrades

MERIDIAN, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 22, 1999--Crucial Technology, a division of Micron, and the only factory-direct memory upgrade supplier, today announced the immediate availability of Micron's high-performance 133MHz Synchronous DRAM (SDRAM) memory modules in 32MB, 64MB and 128MB DIMM densities. Customers can purchase
133MHz SDRAM upgrades directly by visiting Crucial's award-winning Web site at crucial.com or by calling toll-free at 1-877-CRUCIAL.

''Support in the industry for 133MHz bus speeds continues to build. These faster bus speeds create increasing demand for higher memory bandwidth to enable maximum system performance,'' said Scott Schoenherr, General Manager for Crucial Technology. ''Crucial is pleased to be one of the first module suppliers in the industry to offer this high-performance, low-cost solution to our customers.''

As part of Micron Technology, Crucial Technology is able to take advantage of Micron's extensive research and manufacturing capabilities and pass these benefits on to its customers. ''We are pleased to see Crucial Technology taking advantage of its unique position in the retail channel to provide Micron's leading-edge module solutions to the end user,'' said Jeff Mailloux, DRAM Marketing Manager for Micron Technology, Inc. ''As the memory market continues to segment, Micron will continue to focus on providing the solutions needed by our large OEM customers. We anticipate that Crucial will be able to extend these solutions to their customers in future product offerings as well.''

133MHz SDRAM addresses the next generation of processor and bus speeds for workstations, servers and PCs. By increasing the bus, processor and memory speed to 133MHz, overall system performance can increase dramatically. This is good news to many users, including graphic designers, IS managers and other ''power users'' who need maximum bandwidth to run today's more demanding applications.

Crucial Technology is a division of Micron Semiconductor Products, Inc., which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Micron Technology, Inc. Crucial Technology sells memory upgrade modules factory direct from Micron Technology, Inc., and guarantees 100% compatibility on over 30,000 upgrades for more than 6,500 desktops, notebooks, servers and printers.

Tanisys Ships Rambus Rimm Modules for
Revenue; Supplier to Offer One of Industry's
Broadest Lines of 800MHz RIMM Modules

AUSTIN, Texas, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Tanisys Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: TNSU - news), a leading supplier of build-to-order (BTO) custom products for computer manufacturers, today announced it has begun shipping Rambus® RIMM(TM) modules for revenue and plans to provide one of the broadest lines of RIMM modules in the industry.

Rambus technology will enable the DRAM industry's highest level of performance to date -- 1.6 gigabytes per second of peak bandwidth from a single device -- and will span multiple generations of DRAM devices (through 1-gigabit densities). Developed in conjunction with Intel Corp. and in cooperation with DRAM and other semiconductor partners, the Rambus interface achieves its unprecedented performance through innovative electrical signaling and architecture.

Using its status as a Rambus Partner to obtain engineering support directly from Rambus Inc., Tanisys has developed a wide line of RIMM modules and plans to further expand it using both industry standard and custom designs. Tanisys today has the capability of shipping twenty-two separate RIMM modules ranging from 32MB to 288MB, plus continuity modules. The flexibility of the various modules, 64Mbit or 128Mbit RDRAM with either a 16-bit or 18-bit wide data bus, allow any number of devices to be put on the module enabling Tanisys to configure a RIMM module to customers' needs.

''Intel, Compaq, Dell and over fifty other companies already have committed to support the Rambus architecture in future products,'' said Chuck Comiso, Tanisys CEO and President. ''Tanisys believes the PC market is standardizing on Rambus memory for the next generation and PCs use most of the world's DRAM supply. Our commitment to being a leading supplier of RIMM modules will permit us to manufacture modules both under our own brand and for Rambus partners in our C.L.A.S.S. manufacturing services business.''

''Tanisys has been active in the Rambus RIMM Module development program over the last year and is one of the first suppliers to reach full production,'' said Subodh Toprani, Vice President and General Manager of the Industry Enabling Division at Rambus Inc. ''PC OEMs will benefit from another source of RIMM Modules from a supplier who has gained much expertise with Rambus technology.''

''Clearly 800MHz Rambus RIMM modules will be an important, growing memory architecture in the near future,'' said Sherry Garber, Senior Vice President at market researcher Semico Research. ''Tanisys has an exclusive leadership position for Rambus memory as the only company with design, manufacturing and tester development expertise for RIMM modules.''
