The National Post reports in its Wednesday edition that the North American equity market should continue its ascent, as long as the trend to lower interest rates continues, says Philip Strathy, vice-president and chief investment officer at Strathy Investment Management. Mr. Strathy particularly likes BCE Emergis Inc. The Montreal-based firm develops software for doing business on the Internet. Its main business is E-mail and network security. The company has secured some impressive business, including a contract to supply BCE Inc. with e-commerce security software. It is 65-per-cent owned but telecommunications giant BCE Inc., which provides it with substantial financial backing, and will also help it develop a significant business. "It is a young company that already has a large market cap, but the Internet is here to stay and electronic commerce will expand," Mr. Strathy says.
