Just out on CNET:

Lucent teams for MP3 competitor

Lucent Technologies has teamed up with e.Digital and Texas Instruments to develop a handheld Internet music device that will compete with MP3 systems.

Due to ship in December, the new device, to be manufactured by e.Digital, will use Lucent's Enhanced Perceptual Audio Coder (EPAC) chip and will employ e.Digital's MicroOS file management system, Lucent said.

Unlike other handheld devices on the market that play downloadable music using the MP3 format, the e.Digital device will play EPAC files.

Sorry for late reply, but I just got home from work.

CNBC has a policy that they do not cover stocks under $5.00. They could of mentioned the news release and just left out EDIG.

I wonder if the local rag will pick up this news!!! They did not print the last news item.
