That's good news for those individuals and companies who have made overnight fortunes, but it can be bad news for anyone whose performance is judged by short-term rather than long-term results. Take Eckhard Pfeiffer, who, on Sunday, resigned as CEO of Compaq Computer. Was the board short-sighted in forcing out a CEO that's led the company through plenty of good times?
