Good morning all:

Interesting point you made re. MSFT. Frankly I didn't think their report was all that great--clearly slowing revenue growth. However, Briefing.com just speculated that a shift in investor (gambler?) focus is apparantly happening away from the "old" tech stocks including internets like Yahoo and AOL. It said that it will be very interesting to see their earnings next week.

The emphasis, as if we did not already know it, is going to broadband and co.s doing business over the internet.

Are you already in ANIK Dale? The shorts are hanging in on BXM but have been losing badly. Still think ANIK is a couple of months away from a pre-approval pop (my alliteration for the day). VMIX is climbing again today--of course along with everything else. I'm still curious about L2 action. What you described yesterday sounds really weird. Small float? Little stock in the hands of MM's? This is as close to a long term hold as I've had this year. Still think that it's got a lot of upside when people start paying attention. VMIX did get an analyst coverage initiation "Buy" yesterday probably accounting for its price pop (ok, so now I have two).

Wish I had been watching NITE. It looks like it wins no matter who loses the online brokerage battle.

Speaking of... Today Schwab has had a total brain freeze. I can't get my account info., and when I called, the poor guy very curtly said that "my computer is down."--must be having a very bad day. Yesterday, about 1400 EDT, I got a call from the Team Platinum manager asking me not to trade anymore--for the day, forever? I had called earlier asking them to figure out what I had to send in to make sure I did not get any free rides from my trades yesterday. Turns out they worked on the numbers for over an hour and still weren't sure whether I owed anything. I had sold my MSGI and and some VMIX to get into VRIO and EGRP at the beginning of their rampup. Then sold VRIO and EGRP near the midday peak. I did some quick calcs, but wanted to make sure I wasn't going to get in trouble. It shouldn't have been that complicated. Amazing! At least they didn't lose my trades in VRIO and EGRP. And I got better fills than I had been experiencing the last two weeks. Considering Schwab is the biggest and supposed to be the best, they are really fumbling their service to the active trader. Interestingly, the analysts looking at their latest earnings sheet have concluded that Schwab's earnings growth and future are dependent on active online trading.

Their screwing around so much with the bookkeeping sure detracts from being able to focus on companies and trading decisions. OTOH it's such a hassle to switch accounts, not to mention the down time. Still I ought to at least consider opening another account.

OT--A couple of my alltime favorite offbeat movies--Raising Arizona, one of Nicolaus Cage's earlier movies and of couse, Dr. Strangelove. I've met guys in the military (and politicians--including at least one presidential candidate) that were not too far off some of the characters in Strangelove.
