Iomega, BinaryLabs Announce Marketing Agreement
ROY, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 1999--Iomega Corporation (NYSE:IOM - news), a leader in the smart, portable storage market, and BinaryLabs, Inc., a leading software developer of Internet-enhanced applications and multimedia CD-ROMs, today announced they have entered into a promotional agreement for BinaryLabs' PeoplePost software application and hosting service.
PeoplePost's unique, patent-pending interface makes it easy for family and friends to share digital images and messages over the Internet.
Customers will receive a 30-day ''Free'' trial version of the PeoplePost application software on a specially labeled Clik!(TM) disk when they purchase a Clik! disk 4-pack distributed in the U.S. from May 1, 1999 to October 1, 1999.
At any time during the trial, customers can purchase PeoplePost with an exclusive $25 (U.S.) discount off the MSRP of $49.95 (U.S.) and also receive the first year of hosting services for free (a $19.95 U.S. value) if the purchase is initiated through the promotional Clik! disk.
BinaryLabs will honor the discount until December 31, 1999. See the Iomega Home Page (www.iomega.com) for the link to the Trial Version Web Page and for more details.
PeoplePost allows users to create a community ''fridge door'' on the Internet. Users and their invited guests can post notes, photographs and multimedia content to a password protected site, and engage in threaded discussions. Once a user has created a fridge door, they can invite anyone to join in on the fun.
Using any popular Web browser, their guests can view and comment on the postings, add their own pictures and messages, have discussions, print pictures and invite others to join the group.
''Iomega's relationship with BinaryLabs extends our digital imaging solutions which began with our Flash Reader option for Clik! drives,'' said Mike Joseph, vice president global strategy, Iomega Corporation. ''This agreement demonstrates the value of digital imaging to the customer by providing an easy and affordable way to share digital images, making digital photography more fun and enjoyable.''
Iomega also plans to feature the PeoplePost software system on its Web site, www.iomega.com, beginning May 1, 1999, as a downloadable software product. Interested users can download the system directly from the site for a free 30-day trial, or purchase immediately for the MSRP of $49.95.
''PeoplePost is providing digital camera users with a compelling way to easily share images with friends and family which advances the use of digital cameras and provides more enjoyment to the users of digital cameras,'' said Frank Jensen, chief executive officer, BinaryLabs, Inc. ''This will hopefully make digital imaging more prolific and help it to move forward in its adoption curve.''
Iomega designed Clik!(TM) Mobile Drives to bring unlimited storage to handheld digital products through 40 megabyte Clik! disks. The Clik! drive is an ideal storage companion for today's portable products, from digital cameras and handheld personal computers to portable devices.
Also, with the potential to connect to virtually any portable digital or desktop product, customers will be able to easily share information between products and synchronize it back to a desktop computer.
Clik!(TM) disks are designed to store more than current mobile storage solutions and cost much less. At an estimated street price as low as $9.99 (U.S.) each when purchased in a 10-pack, Clik! disks are designed to provide the most affordable, high-capacity storage option for multiple markets. Iomega began shipping Clik! digital camera bundles in December 1998.
