Inmarsat is not mobile, is not lightweight, is not handy, is not easy to use, is not LEO, is not G*.

I never can remember the price of Iridium service; I thought it was the same range, 2-3 bucks per minute. Why spend a grand on a phone when a bunch of new competitive cdma phones are on the way? Maybe I am off on this approach, but my impression is that the folks behind G* are far more marketing oriented than those behind Iridium. Thus, I would trust the marketers over the techies to see that there is really a market there.

Geoff and what's his name, relax. G* is a long-term story. 12/98 First Boston report projects over $5/share profit in 2002, take a 40x multiple and voila G* is over $200/share. Let's get the birds up in the air and get to work. djane

Inmarsat is a Luggable, GEOsat based system.

Iridium is the first mobile and the first LEO system.

You may wish to gloss over these technology fundamentals, but their impact on the market will be significant.

Ignoring them and claiming Inmarsat represents the size of the market isn't very wise.
