I think it is a bit more complicated than that, but I don't really understand exactly how it is working. Especially on the liquid large public float stocks. If we would ever roll over it might work in reverse although the PPT will be a real shock absorber. And, I think most investors will hang on to positions in a declining market if they are not out on margin. And, I have no clue the percentage of investors that are using margin and would be subject to involuntary liquidation. One stat I would really like to see is how many people have taken cash from credit cards and 125% home equity loans and then plowed that into a brokerage account and levered that by two.
