I wonder what the value added of a show like COMDEX is today. I used to go to trade shows like that and leave with sore arms from carrying huge bags of glossy brochures. It was the only way to go because you could not spend more than one minute per booth and still see them all. Now I just log onto the internet and get the latest data sheets, prices, reviews and white papers any time I want to. Even the keynote speeches are broadcast by live webcast. Why get on a crowded plane and pay $200 a night for a hotel in windy Chicago or sweltering Las Vegas. The latter has some attractions, but computer nerds don't tend to be big drinkers or gamblers. Now marketing folks are another story :-).

Annette -
I believe that CPQ had the exclusive contract for the Windows2000 "rapid deployment program" which is what supports hardware at events like COMDEX. They likewise have a huge presence with Novell.

But DELL has been working the partner relationship with Novell strongly and I look for better representation in Novell-centric events.
