Your assumption that people are doing research and making educated decisions is a laughable one. You should know why. My point is exactly that shorting successfully requires more research/skill than going long.

Not in my opinion. The risks can be be higher, so shorts tend to be more careful with their money. IMO there's much more garbage out there than quality, esp. in the small cap arena. Look for large % movement on news that's history, on a shakey issue (take a brief look at their balance sheet, story etc.), and short it on the second day. Return almost guaranteed. Except for the occasional push by the MoMos. Sometimes those MoMos can be a royal pain in the a$$.
