SCUM bria - Re: AMD & Vantis

Have you heard the "rumor" that Vantis may soon be sold to Lattice Semiconductor for about $300 to $400 million ?

The rumor is that AMD needs the cash infusion - that's why the price is so low.

Any idea what Vantis should be worth ?

Paul

re: Doesn't it make sense for AMD to support a K7 variant on socket 7?

I believe that Jerry, during the cc, indicated that the K-7 would be eventually produced in both slot and socket 7 configurations and did not indicate which was to hit the market first.

Scumbria,

Are the resource requirements that high, especially given that they probably have socket 7 interface as a macro (from their K6 programs)?
By all accounts AMD had K7 taped out over 6 months back and that should have freed-up quite a few resources (I am sure some of them have moved on to K9 or chipset or something else but still...)
