Network Solutions will charge the new registrars $18 per Web address for each initial two-year period and $9 for one-year renewals during this 60-day period. "Our ongoing dialogue with the U.S. Department of Commerce has been open and constructive," said Michael A. Daniels, Network Solutions' chairman and acting chief executive officer. "We have agreed to this interim price in order to move the competitive process forward. During the testbed period, we will continue to work with the U.S. Department of Commerce to examine all other areas of mutual concern, including final business terms such as future pricing, as we continue to ensure the reliability and stability of the domain name system."
