Lewis,

With respect to the market that INTC is targetting I have to disagree
with you. INTC purchase of DEC got them an octal 10/100 Ethernet
MAC device - 21440 is part#, I just designed with this part and it
works well - no bugs. But, this is a commodity market,
and INTC is trying to establish a presence in the market where they
can sell high ASP specialty parts. You bring in all those fast
Ethernet ports and you need a fat pipe to transport them - high
speed ATM networks. I think this is the logical market for them
to target and the DEC strongarm processor is the perfect platform
to start with. Just my opinion.

What market are you talking about when you say they are targetting
more of the low-end 10/100 and 1G Ethernet? Doing what with 10/100
and 1G ? Layer 2 ? Layer 3 processing ? Bridging ? Routing ?
I'd like to get a better understanding of what you are referring to,
because I see this as a direct assault on MMCN and Broadcom.

I do agree that short term it should not impact MMCN business, but
long term impact can be significant.

By the way, I'm not short MMCN, I trade it on its swings, but always
long. Right now I'm on the sidelines, sold at 16 and hoping to buy
back on a dip.
