I used to be a techie, but now manage. Must admit I see a huge amount of technies that are very good but absolutely require good management. We have brilliant people that can do anything with a computer but without good management it would be shambolic.
I would wager that a good manager (and I do not claim to be one) is harder to find than a good techie.
The 350k unfilled technical positions mean that good techies are hard to find? Not if you pay em enough and give them good projects.

BTW what did you say to question her techie skills?
