Joe - Re: " NSM didn't fork over $550M. NSM handed over (or more preciely, pulled out of thin air) NSM shares that at the time were worth that much. Now the same shares would be worth only a little over 1/3 of that. No money changed hands."

The $550 Million was the purchase price.

It is reflected in the DILUTED earnings per share - due to the increased number of shares. Of course, NSM's LOSSES are what have been diluted.

And NO - the money was NOT pulled out of THIN AIR. It came right out of NSM shareholder's pockets.

oe - Re: "What is so special October 1998? "

Nothing special to me.

However, Dan B posted an article form that date that quoted Joe (?) McDonough of Cyrix/NSM saying what a wonderful ramp up NSM had done on the 0.18 micron process.

Jozef,

Re: "What is so special October 1998? The takeover happened in 1997 (October or
November). There was not really much introduced since than either."

Please tell that to Dan B. ... He insists that there are .18um products
that have been released by NSM. He's a real "technical genius". He must
be an "analyst" for the Register. <ggg>

Make It So,
