I saw a reference to y2k in the earning release, but unless someone parsed its enclosing sentence in haste, one could not come to the interpretation your broker relayed to you. What caught my attention as a potential negative to the public is the reference to 40% 'planned' decline in revenue for discontinued computers. For people who don't know NCR product line really well, this may be a big negative especially when it is a surprise. But that should be a positive since old throwbacks to the mainframe era do not contribute to the bottom line.

I kind of agree with your comment about the quality of management - if not in general then at least about the PR people there. They should have provided some guidance prior to today's release so that the market could understand why the discontinuation of the old product lines would be positive going forward.

Oh well, we may chalk this dip as one more buying opportunity - just that we've had a lot of them already and want no more.
