Mark,

''Lattice has demonstrated a consistent track record of innovation, competitive success and strong financial performance. This combination provides an opportunity
to streamline our operations, increase our manufacturing volume, and lower our overall cost structure. The addition of Vantis gives us a unique opportunity to build a
successful business by creating significant value for our customers, and reward our shareholders and employees for a job well done,'' Tsui concluded. "

I do not believe there is much of a product or overlap here. It is safe to say that Cyrus will squeeze out every penny on the operations side. Cyrus is known as a tough, no-nonsense, brilliant technologist/commander. He is very conservative and not known to overpay. I have a feeling he may be going somewhere with the patent situation with Altera but do not know that much about PLDs to comment.

Chuck

P.S.:Cyrus is feared and there are a lot of choice words used to describe him by people who work for him but we can leave that alone..

GoBabyGo,

Re: Vantis/Lattice

There is a lot of overlap in products and customers.
So this is a big negative.

On the other hand Vantis owns some fundamental patents and as you probably know everybody in the PLD/FPGA biz is or has sued each other.

So imagine the case where a Xilinx or ALtera had picked up the biz.

Overall it's a win win deal.

Unless of course you work at Vantis.

Cyrus runs a lean mean operation and there's a lot of fat at Vantis.
SO I would expect significant layoffs within Vantis Group.

Overall it's a good defensive strategic fit for Lattice.

Regards,

Kash
