Ford to carry shareholders meeting on Internet

DEARBORN, Mich., April 21 (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co. (F - news) said on Wednesday
it will carry its annual shareholders meeting in Detroit live on the Internet next month for
people unable to attend.

''We're trying to take a leadership position as best we can on the E-commerce side in all
aspects,'' Ford spokesman John Spelich said. ''Using the Internet as a cutting-edge tool is important. This was one more
opportunity to do that.''

However, a DaimlerChrysler AG (DCX - news)(quote from Yahoo! UK & Ireland: DCXGn.F) spokeswoman said the
U.S.-German automaker did the same thing for its annual press briefing in Stuttgart, Germany, on March 31, and will repeat
that for its shareholders meeting in Germany on May 18. General Motors Corp. (GM - news) officials could not be reached to
comment.

Ford's annual meeting at the Detroit Opera House at 10 a.m. EDT (1400 GMT) on May 13 will be available through
www.ford.com and broadcast.com.

Shareholders at the world's second-largest automaker already can receive annual reports and proxy statements, and cast
ballots for the election of directors and for shareholder proposals on the Internet at www.shareholder.ford.com.

Given Ford may some day conduct its annual meeting solely in cyberspace, Chairman Bill Ford Jr. said in a statement.
