EARNINGS RESULTS....... NEW JERSEY: American Standard today announced first quarter earnings per share (diluted) of $US0.65, an increase of 33 per cent over last year. NORTH CAROLINA: BankAmerica Corporation, whose stock is traded on the Tokyo Exchange, reported net income of $1.91 billion, or $1.10 a share for the first quarter. The bank said this was a 44 per cent increase on last year, which included a merger-related charge of $M642 after tax. NEW YORK: Avis Rent A Car reported record first quarter results. Revenue was $M566.9, up 11 per cent. Net income and diluted earnings a share were $M15.2 and 47 cents a share, representing increases of 105 per cent and 104 per cent over 1998.
