Maybe I can help out with the ASP stuff.

An ASP buys the enterprise-wide application software and puts it on their servers. The ASP maintains the hardware and the software.

The ASP then calls on potential clients in the mid-tier market, the smaller companies that can't justify the expense of acquiring and deploying the software. The ASP sez, "Hey folks! We've got the app on our servers already. We'll let you tap into our server. We'll customize the app to meet your specific needs. And all you have to do is pay us a fee every month."

Just as Citrix products are used by companies that have their in-house client-server solution, the same products can be used by ASPs who are offering outsourced, monthly, pay-as-you-go client-server solutions.

For a better understanding of the role ASPs play, you might want to check out the web site of USInternetworking. I haven't seen it, but it's an ASP that offers major enterprise software to their clients.
