Based on that post it tells me that you have only been following vivus since maybe the end of last year.

Vivus spent $5M on a direct to consumer campaign in Q1 1998. The only reason they did not advertise in 1997 was because they were not in a position to produce enough product to meet demand.

They even spent much more money adding to their core sales force and training and hiring on 150 rent-a-reps in April 1998. The timing of Viagra was so bad for Vivus in terms of the 75 to 80% drop in product revenue that they were only able to afford to keep their greatly expanded sales force for only 2 months. The rent-a-reps mission was to detail MUSE to the PCPs which they had to do at the same time Viagra was launched. Do you really think those PCPs were interested in hearing about MUSE during all that Viagra media hoopla?

Anyway, good luck with your short position.

Curtis,

VLAD, cool. Sometimes he does get a bit carried away but that's part of his obsessive nature. He knows the company is run by a jack ass, he just doesn't want to be reminded.

My gut feeling is Vivus will trade lower tomorrow. Now, knowing I have been wrong so many times in the past I believe it might actually go up. Of course if I'm wrong then it was because I thought I might be right.
