Jim: I guess your gut feel about the ^XMT was right on. StockOperator was right in the MDA thread. The sell off was a head fake, at least from what we can see now.

Regards,

Jaime

In two days, the breadth on the short-term stuff has moved up quite a
lot. Probably room to go up to 70-75% for the NDX.

NDX SPX
Percent above 4/19 4/21 4/19 4/21
10-day MA 29.6% 59.2% 64.5% 73.0%
21-day MA 35.7% 55.1% 64.5% 75.8%
50-day MA 41.8% 61.2% 64.1% 75.0%
100-day MA 52.0% 63.3% 65.1% 70.4%
200-day MA 66.3% 69.4% 68.4% 69.8%

A lot of the Stochastic crossovers the previous day turned into MACD
crossovers today.

10.2% of NDX stocks had 8-17-9 buy signals versus 3.0% sells
11.2% of NDX stocks had 12-25-9 buy signals versus none

The number of 9-day RSI sell signals outnumbered buys 6.1% to 5.1%,
while there were just 1.0% of NDX stocks triggering 14-day RSI buys to
no sells.

The number of new Stochastic buy signals were few for such a big up
day, merely 5.1% for 9-3 Stoch (versus 3.1% sells), 4.1% for 14-3
Stoch (versus 2.0% sells), and 3.0% for 21-3 Stoch (versus 3.0% sells).

Jim,

I also have PUTs on a chemical company, similar to yr thoughts of shorting the XLB.

Heard on CNBC that there has been outflows of money, but cant confirm
that with AMG yet. If that is the case, the money has to come from
somewhere to support the huge rise in IBM today that most are expecting.
