Actually, I used to be quite impressed with the technology, specifically, the graphics, circa mid eighties. Unfortunately for Apple, neither I, nor my boss (I did not work for INTC) at the time wanted to fork over $5k for the system I was drooling over.

IMO, Apple could have had a much different future with a slightly less premium based business plan. I believe this to be a function of the ego of Mr. Jobs.

I find all the Intel bashing on price quite ironic. I wanted an Apple, but it was too expensive. Where would we have been without INTC, paying Steve J. $5k a system?

Q,

Saw imac at Fry's. The fuzzy screen just kills my eyes. Why would anybody
buy such expensive (but cheapo) junk?

Apple has a core following of fanatics that will buy one of any Mac that comes out. Once they're done buying, maybe it's curtains, I don't know. The word is out that practically all new SW gets put on Wintel first, and some never getting to Macs.
