Services Across its Local Portal Network

JERSEY CITY, N.J. and WESTBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 26, 1999--

Internet Directory Leader
Continues Aggressive Campaign to Help Local Merchants Maximize the

Benefits of the Internet

Advance Internet Inc., a subsidiary of Advance Publications Inc., owner of 26 newspapers as well as Conde Nast magazines, and Switchboard, Inc., the popular Internet
subsidiary of Banyan Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ:BNYN - news), today announced plans to provide a suite of products and services to stimulate commerce in the local
markets that make up the Advance portal network. Advance Internet's established sales channels will be engaged in selling Switchboard directory products to local merchants
which deliver visibility on the Advance portal sites, the Switchboard site and the sites of Switchboard's many affiliated partners.

Advance Internet will integrate customized versions of Switchboard's business and people searches into their nine local portal sites including New Jersey Online (www.nj.com);
Michigan Live (www.mlive.com); Cleveland Live (www.cleveland.com); and Oregon Live (www.oregonlive.com). Business searches conducted in any of the Advance markets
will highlight local merchants whose advertising buys include display ads in the Switchboard-powered business directory.

''As a leading network of local portals, our goal is to provide the most current, complete and useful information for our users and a valuable Internet presence for our
advertisers,'' said Frederick J. Tuccillo, Group Publisher at Advance Internet. ''The Switchboard products and customized functionality are a very good compliment to the content
and features of our sites.''

''The addition of Advance Internet to our Local Merchant program provides another strong endorsement of the value the program brings to both our partners who are looking to
extend their merchant relationships, and to the local merchants in their markets,'' stated Dean Polnerow president of Switchboard. ''It's alliances with companies like Advance that
allow us to offer the guidance and services that local merchants need to realize success on the Internet.''

I think they were traded yesterday because investors got their 1998 annual report over the weekend. Read page 19 about the AOL contract "non-renewal", or read my detailed post on Raging Bull, yesterday. We could be in for a negative surprise re: Switchboard revenues, and the actual impact of the AOL situation. As a result I'm out today, and back in Wednesday. Doesn't change BNYN's long-term outlook, just don't want to get caught in the downdraft. Might be wrong, but Switchboard certainly won't post revenue numbers in excess of $2.0 million. Three straight flat quarters. You decide.
