Scumbria,>>>Using this logic, an identical proof can be made of the ineffectiveness of Andy Grove. Throw in the fact that Intel had no competition until recently, and AG disappears off the map. <<<

Using the same logic, Andy Grove's board of directors promoted him to Chairman. His performance versus his competition is outstanding no matter how you may want to slice it:

Go ahead - take your argument to it's logical conclusion (whatever form of logic you choose to use - but please specify)- whatever it is eg Andy Grove was an ineffective CEO and his board of directors promoted him - Eckhard Pfeifer was an effective CEO and his board of directors elected to humiliate him by ousting him from his job or whatever it is that you are trying to prove.

S,

Using this logic, an identical proof can be made of the ineffectiveness of Andy
Grove. Throw in the fact that Intel had no competition until recently, and AG
disappears off the map.

Continuing the logic would make J. Sanders III the virtual roommate of Freddie the Freeloader in the old Red Skelton series. I can just see that Mercedes limo parked outside Freddie's shack.
