Dave,

not that I am qualified to challenge the great Tero .......

Many moons ago, before all this ERICY stuff, I remember we were talking about MOT here. The subject being that MOT's failure to jump on the CDMA bandwagon really hurt not only MOT but also QCOM. QC needed other players to help push the superior technology into the market place.

All the big boys, such as LU and MOT, have the capability of going CDMA or GSM. Now, using just common sense, why would anyone push GSM if there is an option. Furthermore, I suspect one of the big problem previously haunting Great Wall was vendor financing, which may not be the case anymore.

Finally, GSM still favors the Europeans. From a political standpoint, there are trade relations problems that China wants to consider. No one mentioned the record trade deficit reported earlier this week. This has to be good news for US exporters and what better solution is there besides shipping them a jillion QCOM handsets.

Just 2 cents from non engineer.
