Company Press Release
Pick Communications Corp. Names Thomas M. Malone Chief Executive Officer
Former President of Cable and Wireless USA's Commercial Internet Unit Joins PICK to Lead New Internet Audio and Video Streaming Initiative
WAYNE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 22, 1999-- PICK Communications Corp. (OTCBB:PICK - news) today announced that Thomas M. Malone, 43, has been named chief executive officer of the company. He also has agreed to join the company's board of directors. Mr. Malone was previously president of Cable and Wireless USA's Commercial Internet operation.

''Tom Malone is a seasoned senior executive with precisely the kind of experience needed to drive PICK's successful entry into Internet access,'' said Diego Leiva, chairman and president of PICK. ''We are delighted that the prospects for PICK attracted Tom to our company.''

''The chance to join PICK and run an enterprise that may literally change the face of the Internet is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,'' said Mr. Malone. ''PICK Communications has created a satellite-based solution that circumvents the net congestion and expensive bandwidth issues that thus far have hobbled audio and video streaming technologies. PICK's solution will accelerate the evolution of the Internet as the communications medium of the 21st century.''

PICK is this week demonstrating its new satellite Internet Protocol-based (IP) platform services in the Philips Digital Television Booth at the 1999 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB99) convention in Las Vegas. The platform is fully operational and ready to serve the broadcast and Internet community.

PICK also recently announced the launch of www.pickradio.com, the first service based on the new satellite-based Internet Protocol (IP) audio and video streaming delivery service from PICK Online.Com Inc. The new service makes use of industry leading Open-Platform Media Streaming Technologies developed by Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT - news).

As president of the Commercial Internet and Messaging Service Unit at Cable and Wireless USA, Mr. Malone was responsible for managing and directing the Engineering, Operations, Web Hosting and Customer Care groups for Cable and Wireless USA's Commercial Internet division. He joined Cable and Wireless USA in 1988 and held a number of positions, including senior vice president and assistant vice president of Business Development. He was previously with Sprint International, GTE Telenet and CompuServe, Inc.

Mr. Malone has more than 20 years of experience in long-distance voice, packet-switched data, electronic commerce, messaging and value-added computer services.

PICK Communications Corp., headquartered in Wayne, N.J., operates PICK Sat Inc., which provides satellite-based Internet access and interactive multimedia services to end-user service providers, and PICK Online.Com Inc., a media-content aggregator and satellite multicast delivery service for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Broadband Networks, including Cable Modem and Asynchronous Digital Service Line (ADSL) service providers. Q&A with Thomas M. Malone

Newly appointed CEO of PICK Communications Corp.

QUESTION: What attracted you to PICK Communications?

MALONE: This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change the face

of the Internet. Pick's solution to the delivery of audio,

video and Web events will vastly improve both the quality

and reach of Internet content, versus existing terrestrial

technologies, and at a fraction of the cost.

QUESTION: What is PICK's solution and why is it better?

MALONE: Everyone wants high-quality video and audio from the

Internet. But current terrestrial pipelines get congested

easily, fast degrading quality. PICK's satellite-delivered

multicasts completely bypass this problem. This allows

content providers to reach huge audiences, while delivering

high-quality audio and video at a substantially lower cost.

QUESTION: Who will benefit from what PICK offers?

MALONE: Nearly everyone. Content providers, such as broadcasters,

benefit from much lower costs and access to enormous

audiences. Users benefit from broadcast-quality audio and

video.

QUESTION: What is PICK's relationship with Microsoft?

MALONE: Microsoft is one of several partners that have been

instrumental in the development of the PickSat's Open

Platform Multimedia Delivery Services.

QUESTION: Who are PICK's competitors? Broadcast.com?

MALONE: While Pick Online might be viewed as a competitor to

companies like Broadcast.com, the satellite-delivery

capabilities of Pick Sat are aimed at servicing content

providers and aggregators. So companies like Broadcast.com

might very well end up as customers of PickSat in the

future.

QUESTION: When is PICK's Internet capability going to be profitable?

MALONE: We are ramping up very quickly, since we offer an immediate,

up-and-running solution. We expect to be profitable within

18 months.
