Netoy.com Expands Advertising Campaign with Lycos
LARGO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 22, 1999--Netoy.com, Corp. (OTC BB:NTOY), a leading Internet retailer of toys and collectibles, announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Lycos, Inc. (Nasdaq:LCOS - news), the most visited hub on the Internet and the world's largest online community, for a three-month advertising campaign.
The campaign's focus will be on the niche market of consumers who are searching for hard-to-find toys such as Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, and Erector Sets. Netoy.com offers a comprehensive selection of these toys on its Web site, www.netoy.com.
''We got off to a solid start with our grand opening and the Furby giveaway,'' said Michael Cao, Netoy.com's CEO. ''There is a large market share to be gained and our initial efforts have proven beneficial in providing us with significant exposure. Now we need to step up our marketing efforts in order to maintain that forward momentum. Our advertising agreement with Lycos follows Netoy.com's goal of building brand awareness for Netoy.com and will ensure that our name will reach one of the largest audiences of online consumers in existence today.''
The agreement with Lycos covers a valuable segment of the market that Netoy.com plans to cultivate into a strong base of loyal customers. Beginning May 1, banners on Lycos.com will direct users to Netoy.com's Internet store when they search for keywords related to Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, and Erector Sets. Netoy.com's selection of these toys includes a large assortment of Dragonball Z and Sailor Moon poseable action figures not readily available elsewhere.
''This is a new approach for us,'' said Cedric Viquerat, VP of Marketing at Netoy.com. ''With the Lycos marketing plan, our advertising efforts will be focused on three specific lines of toys. We chose this type of advertising campaign based on the extreme popularity of these particular toys. These three lines alone comprise some of our best-selling toys. We believe that our targeted marketing in this area will give consumers a clear message that Netoy.com is the first and best place to go to for these toys.''
The goal of Netoy.com's current marketing campaign is to introduce the Company to a national audience of online consumers.
