John, apparently, the analysts covering IBM underestimated big Blue's earnings. IBM showed good growth across all sectors of their business, including PC sales. I hope this is a sign that Dell will also surprise the street for 1st qtr. At the least, hopefully the anticipation of meeting or beating estimates will carry Dell's stock price upward. Holding May 45 Call Options as well as long on the stock.

John,

Since they are producing their articles every day ... these days I have started to wonder how much of an involuntary slip it is when one confuses revenues with earnings. Note that I am not trying to say that one is more important than the other in general. But there can be valid arguments and then there can be lazy mistakes to quickly forward one's slant on the situation. I seriously think that the notion that those journalists that openly declare their slant and seem to be proud of it (whether bullish or bearish) are a disgrace to the profession which is based on neutral and accurate presentation of information.

Edit: I got a little mad this morning as the article seemed to be bullish on the surface but casually slipped in a piece of seemingly innocent but extremely negative mis-information.

john..re tech wreck....agree "yellow journalism"...

what i wanted to really comment on was the discussion of the world recovery and oil pricing...

analysts missing it again, saying asian recovery will create more demand for oil...are they forgetting that malaysia and indonesia are net exporters of oil...and they must sell same to kick start their economies?...cartel hasn't been unified since the seventies...production numbers/cutbacks just another lie...no revenue sharing, it's every producer for themselves...always fakes the futures market....oil price will fall back to historic lows by fall, perhaps sooner....thanks, ed a.
