It wasn't as bad as last time. Think it's the memory. This memory is not supposed to be able to perform at 100Mhz.

thread,

does anyone here have a working knowledge of iomega jaz drives?

i have a few very basic questions about incremental back ups performed after a full system back up.

here's one: i have my entire hard drive backed up on a 1 gig disk (i believe its capacity is actually greater because it compresses data, sometimes at as much as a 4:1 ratio). i want to do a periodic, incremental back up, where only those files that have been changed are added. what happens to a file that has been deleted from my hard drive, but it is also on the jaz drive? when i do the incremental back up, is that deleted file removed from the jaz disk? does it land in the recycle bin?

here's another question: similarly, i recently uninstalled a 6mb stock trading program from my hard drive. (like everything else, it is backed up on a jaz cartridge.) after uninstalling the trading program, i download and install a new 8 mb version of the trading program. then i perform an incremental back up. what happens to the original 6mb program? is it removed from the back up disk? does it remain there and the new 8mb version just gets added to it? what if the old and new files have the same name? remember, i uninstalled the old 6mb file from my hard drive, then loaded the new 8mb.

final question: again, very similar to the above. theoretically, let's say that the only thing that changed on my pc between back ups is one line of text in a word document. let's say i deleted one sentence from the document. what happens when i perform an incremental back up? does that one sentence get dropped from the file on the back up disk? if so, where does it go? or does a whole new file get added?

if i can get a handle on this subject, i'll be happy.

:)
