Chuzzlewit, fully understand. Aren't the transfer costs usually the MLB costs plus a percentage markup, say 15%?

Chuz, the issue of what cost the component division should charge the PC division would cause great friction. Market pricing can provide only partial guidance. It would seem to me that if the component division can sell to other PC makers, the IBM PC assembly division should be able to buy from other component makers. With this freedom, and with no secret political arm twisting, the friction would change to just hard work to get the bid.

Any idea if the PC division can buy discs, etc, from other suppliers?
