. . . . . . . LONG PORTFOLIOS. . . .April 22, 1999 . . . . . Due to a technical glitch in Long Portfolio 1, I recreated it to show the many splits and mergers in a way that would also correctly calculate amounts and percentages. LONG PORTFOLIO 1 is now broken down into 2 parts. . . Long Portfolio 1.0 . . Part 1 techstocks.com Long Portfolio 1.0 . . Part 2techstocks.com It is near impossible to accurately reflect mergers using SI portfolio software. . .but these are pretty close. To calculate the full Long Portfolio 1.0 add current value of both part 1 and 2. I can only account for 1380.77 worth of original investment. Somewhere along the line, I wrote that the original investment was 1550.00, but I believe the former number is accurate. . . I must have calculated and checked historical records a dozen times, and believe that 1380.77 is correct. Pick one of these "original investment" numbers for use. To determine "percentage gain" of full portfolio 1, subtract the number you picked from the sum of the "current values" of pt 1 and 2, giving you the "net gain." Then with a calculator, you can determine the "percentage gain" by taking the "net gain" and working a 'is what percentage of' calculation by dividing the "net gain" by the "original investment", but using the percentage key. I. E. 2,348.81 divided by 1380.77 percent. . .answer should be [170 pct.] . . . . . . . . . . . For those interested. . . . . . . . . . . . Long Portfolio 1.1 was designed as an alternative direction to factor in the recent "sector rotation" . . .it is derived from Long Port 1.0, but was traded or updated this week, in response for the dramatic market moves. It was changed to have less internet exposure through the summer months. techstocks.com From the original Long Port 1 investment, 1.1 is up 160 percent [less than 1.0 at this time] and up 21.26 pct. since creation from 3,000.00 transferred from Long Port 1 near the low of the week on 04/14/99.. . . . . Long Portfolio 2.0 . . . . Our flagship mutual fund model techstocks.com Original investment $5,001.64 on March 24,1999. Today's value: $6,933.81 on April 22, 1999.Total percentage gain = 38.63% in less than 1 month . . This should make these portfolios more clear and easier to maintain. Rande Is
