I would like to think that is just a coincidence. But they were big followers of Manson, and they are known to have used the Internet extensively.

Just reported by MSNBC, the latest developments: they just discovered 2 more large bombs.. Investigators are looking at accomplices, and to follow up on our recent trench coat wearing discussion it appears that several school district have decided to ban their wearing today.

EACH BOMB, hidden in the school's kitchen area, weighed at least 35 pounds, authorities said.
Also Thursday, amid tightened security prompted by concern over potential copycat incidents, schools across Jefferson County reopened Thursday for the first time since Tuesday's rampage. But Columbine students will finish the year at other campuses as police continue to canvas the complicated crime scene.
A spring snowstorm caused some school closures, but others were opening as scheduled. Stone said deputies and school staff plan “sweeps” and greater security at entrances and exits.
Some Denver-area schools imposed a new ban on trench coats in the wake of the attack, which killed 15 and wounded 23 others. Officials at districts in Denver, Douglas County and parts of Adams said the coats are intimidating and inappropriate and could be used to hide weapons.
This week's attack inspired a copycat act by teen-agers on Wednesday, although there were no weapons involved. Four teens were charged with trespassing in Colorado Springs after arriving at a school in trench coats and masks.
“The suspects were mocking yesterday's events,” a police statement said.

The parents have issued statements on the attack, expressing their grief and sorrow. They seem like very normal, rational, middle class professionals that are truly sorry for what happened. And they are trying to figure out why also.
