With rare exception MM's are in business to make money on the spread, pretty much a sure thing, rather than take large speculative positions as if they were institutions. It's interesting to me that on the way up a stock is credited with attracting buyers, but on the way down it has to be MM manipulation, as if message-board posters can't conceive of anyone selling their favorite stock. Well, I think that lots of selling has been going on and, for all I know, it could be the insiders who registered all those millions of shares that they got at much lower prices. After all, their ship has, indeed, come in. That's probably how I'd feel if I were one of them. Meanwhile (sigh), there's lots more volatility to come.
