"Village of America" ... your telling me that Americans are innately preoccupied with violence ? The media and violent movies are the primary contributing factors to youth violence.

Read, from your favorite web site (CNN), about the movie what Harris and Kehbold watched over and over; Natural Born Killers. It's that kind of crap that produces the kind of warped minds that we're seeing now in Generation Y.

I think the problem is NOT "access to firearms for everyone", its this preoccupation of the media with firearms. Its not the firearms that killed, its the people who willfully fired the firearms. If the Trenchman didn't have firearms they could still have blown up half a stadium with pipebombs(possibly killing a lot more people).
So you take away our constitutional rights to bear arms. What's next? Butane lighters, metal pipes, nails, fertilizer(I'd short the HD stock!)? Don't you think self policing or parents policing their own kids is better than a big brother policing us? Its possible that if these two kids had got a good caning after they tried to steal a car(like they would have in Singapore), they would have stayed clear of further trouble. but no, that would be "unthinkable" today.
