NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Come in with an earnings report as pleasing as
IBM's, and your investors feel vindicated. A much better story than last time
around, too. Three months ago when IBM's numbers missed the mark, its
stock followed with its biggest one day decline in three years. See related
story.

At RagingBull's IBM (IBM: news, msgs) board, investors sounded relieved
and rewarded. Said beachgal: ..."A TOAST TO US!!! The believers. IBM is a
world-class corporation and a first class stock. Thanks...for keeping the
faith." molester ..."IBM finally came out of a couple of month slump and hit a
homer! GO IBM!!!"

IBM's good news gave some the go ahead for more Compaq [c: cpq] bashing
too. JRMoney ...Congrats to all IBM holders, but this is good news for Dell
(DELL: news, msgs) and it clearly shows that Compaq was full of bull, and
they should be banned on the NYSE for false and misleading statements. I
haven't seen a tech miss estimates yet, except for Compaq.
WHO SAID THERE WAS A PC SLOWDOWN? Only sorry Compaq.
IBM results clearly show the PC market is still intact and ROBUST."
