Set-top box relationships are great, the more the better. Remember, these relationships were initially put in place to support the Individualized TV rollout; with HyperTV they become all the more important. I think Alx Klive is well informed and offers a good general overview of those companies who currently provide streaming media solutions in the low bandwidth marketplace. I don't agree with his/her point that the future holds no place for set-top boxes, but then again this piece is skewed more towards the traditional internet appliance -- the (PC). As an Enhanced Programming company, ACTV's Individualized product relies heavily on the set-top box. Without the set-top box the consumer will not be able to receive the premium service. It's important to understand that ACTV enhances traditional broadcast media programming with its Individualized product. There are many cameras running during the course of a typical sporting event, as such ACTV's technology allows you to seamlessly and in real-time switch between the camera of your choice. As a Streaming Media company, our HyperTV product surpasses traditional low bandwidth solutions and offers programmers a more compelling environment to develop in. I believe that HyperTV is the only streaming media product that allows programmers to stream web URL addresses in sync with the video. In fact, this quote from a recent company press release really attests to the uniqueness and power of HyperTV."For example, a HyperTV user watching a rock concert can be ''pushed'' a stream of web addresses, in synch with the video, simultaneously providing relevant content from the Internet, such as: lyrics to the current song, bios of featured band members, interactive trivia questions about the artist, the band's fan club site, a recent article about the band from a music magazine, or e-commerce applications such as opportunities to purchase related merchandise like a CD, DVD or apparel. During a commercial break in the program, an advertisement for a new car can be enhanced by simultaneously delivering information from the company's Web site or the site of a local dealership where users receive more information that complements the video. If it's not clear by now, I am extremely excited about the opportunities for this technology and I believe the coming months will demonstrate to the consumer the unique and robust features that HyperTV has to offer.
