I think there may be some shorting to accumulate. Imagine you wanted a big block and didn't want to pay $16+ / share: A) Start really heavy shorting in the AM on open to flush out cheap shares. Day traders and momentum traders will start shorting with you to accelerate the plunge. Most longs will sit on the sidelines or panic sell if the move is sudden. B) Cover your position in the afternoon, plus buy back everyone else's shares at bargain prices. C) Repeat each day of the week.
