>> I deny that. Now prove it.

Price a 2-way PII 450 MHZ, 128MB RAM, 19" monitor, and a graphics card capable of 6 million triangles/second (ie. Riva TNT 2) :
cost ~ $ 3000.00 U.S.

Now, your homework, go price a Sun 2-way workstation; it won't have the same CPU power or graphics capability ... but price it and report the $ difference in cost.

Also you'll find hundreds of manufacturers of 3rd party PC add-ons components and software. When you buy proprietary iron such as Sun, your stuck with one maybe two vendors. The competition in the PC arena leads to ever reduced prices (price competition) and shorter time to market cycles for new innovations.

We will see a shift to PC's from the UNIX workstation market; especially now that Linux (freeware UNIX) is available. Linux is free, very reliable now, and support is available from a number of vendors. It will happen this year.
