"I know you are very bullish on QCOM . I took a look at their charts
and they are coming off a multiyear base but the price seems exte nded
for now. Would you advocate buying at these prices ? What makes them
warrant the same status as MSFT, CSCO, INTC as others in the QCOM
thread are claiming ?"

here is the deal, very simplified. Qcom stubbornly stood by cdma technology that they developed/own/have patents on. The stock price suffered while the world evolved toward qcom. 6 weeks ago a deal paved the way for broader adaption of qcom's technology, and a royalty stream. China announces they are going this direction to leapfrog laying wire. Qcom was supposed to e about 3.00 for the year, but just popped a q that was really ~1.20. The company can be bougt for 3x sales while the big boys you mention, intc, msft, csco, go for about 14x average. Intc brings that avg down. Qcom, if it were to establish a "monopoly" like the mentioned monsters would there for have to sell for about 10x the current price within 2 years.( Increase pe X growth).

No eggs please; I know there is no monopoly. I am still trying to figure this out on the fly. It is undervalued anyway. The question is whether it is a 500 dollar stock or 2000 and within how many years.
