Re: Y2K slowdown....Microsoft's statements on a slowdown because of Y2K fears is unfounded at best, bogus at worst...If anything, people will be buying more PC's, hardware and software at a faster rate as we get closer to 2000 because of fears that their machines/networks wont be ready to face Y2K...As for Microsoft's reasoning for their statements...Anyone who's followed the stock over the last 5 yrs or so has seen a continual growth...their anti-competitive lawsuits by the government and other agencies are a way to try and slow down the Nasdaq giant from their monstrous stock growth...It doesn't seem to work too much, so quarter after quarter, during the quarterly press conference, we hear Microsoft spokesmen telling us how they had a very good quarter...but don't expect growth to continue as strong..because....(you fill in an excuse)...heheh so far the game isn't working, the stock keeps soaring...the government keeps pressuring them....By the way...with all these PCs selling, where do you think most of these people will be calling to go online? You guessed it...AOL....Sorry Microsoft...you guys may have the monopoly in operating systems...but MSN aside, guess who has the monopoly in online service? ;)

Wiljohn, does the IBM survey break down spending into Hardware, SOftware, Service, etc.? IBM is a Tech mutual fund after all. It would be interesting to see the components. Might give clues for the tech sector.
