Respectfully disagree - it is a money problem. All the working mothers I know - except the really ambitious ones, and they're in the minority - would love to spend much more family time. But at least in the major US suburban areas the cost of living vs. a typical professional salary has stepped out of balance. Affording a house, two running cars and a college fund is largely impracticable on one paycheck. The one resource that loses out in this valuation model is attention. And these kids would have been less likely to fall off the moral table if they;d had some parental attention. Jm$.02
