Ed, personally, I wouldn't pay a nickel to any big manufacturer, as I build all my systems from the ground up (except my Toshiba laptop). But this is far from common. And why do you think you have to pay hundreds extra for a new Gateway? Just isn't the case. Gateway is cost competitive with any comparable system at retail, probably cheaper. They don't compete in the sub $800 space and lower, but like I stated, the market for higher end consumer PCs is apparently quite healthy. Gary
